Getting to work for Tibor wasn't easy.
I'd made two or three trips out to New York from London, Tibor often cancelled our meetings with an hour’s notice. Of course I had no idea he was sick which explained everything. The last time he did this he asked me to photocopy my portfolio (which at that time was a large Globe-Trotter case) and send it to him. I was pretty incensed at missing him for the third time, so I took my portfolio to the largest copier I could find in Manhattan and placed the entire case on the flat bed. I sent the rolled up photocopy of my portfolio with a note saying 'here's a photocopy of my portfolio' to Tibor.
Lisa, Tibor's assistant told me later about the story which unfolded. Tibor received my poster, unfurled it and flew into a rage. Lisa laughed at him and when he asked why, she said it's the kind of thing you'd do. Tibor picked up the phone that moment, called me in London and asked me to join M&Co.
